Beginning this spring, the City of Denison will implement a more efficient, modernized trash collection system that will use city-issued wheeled carts. The new system uses technology-enabled automated side loader sanitation trucks equipped with a mechanical hydraulic arm that lifts and empties the cart, returning it to the curbside. This will be similar to the current recycling program.
Beginning in March, residents will receive their city issued carts to begin use in April. The lidded cart is designed to be weather resistant to tipping over in windy conditions, protecting against rain, animal scavenging, loose trash and odors, securely containing items within the cart.
We hope the changes to the trash collection will help strengthen our recycling program as we move forward with going green in 2019.
